Calculate the steady state current in the 2- ohm resistor shown in the circuit in the figure. The intermal resistance of the battery is negligible and the capacitance of the condenser C is 0.2 microfarad.

A

0.6A

B

0.7A

C

0.8A

D

0.9A

The correct Answer is:
D

In the steady state, no current will flow through the condenser C.
`therefore` The combined resistance of parallel resistances of `2 Omega and 3 Omega is R = (2xx3)/(2+3)=1.2 Omega`
`therefore` Current through the battery `I= (6)/(2.8+1.2)= 1.5 A`
For the resistances of `2 Omega and 3 Omega`
`v=2xx I_(1)= 3xx I_(2) " " therefore (I_(1))/(I_(2))=(3)/(2) therefore I_(2)=(2)/(3)I_(1)`
`because I_(1)+I_(2)=1.2 therefore I_(1)+(2)/(3)I_(1)=1.5 therefore I_(2)=0.9 A`
