Why is the vapous pressure of an aqueous solution of gulucose lower than that of water ?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

At a number of sites, non-volatile glucose molecules will occupy the surface instead of water molecules. Hence, effective surface area for evaporation decreases and so the vapour pressure is lower.
