Why a person suffering from high blood pressure is advised to take minimum quantity of common salt?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Osmotic pressure is directly proportional to the concentration of the solutes. Our body fluid contains a number of solutes. On taking large amount of common salt, `Na^(+)` and `Cl^(-)` ions enter into the body fluid thereby raising the concentration of the solutes. As a results, osmotic pressure increases which may rapture the blood cells.
