Give an example of a disproportionation reaction of `F_(2)` ?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

`F_(2)` when passed over ice at 233 K, underoges a disproportionation reaction, i.e., `F_(2)` is both oxidised and reducted. In HOF, the oxidation state of F is +1 while in HF it is -1.
`overset(0)(F_(2))(g) + H_(2)O(g) overset(233 K)rarr HOoverset(+1)(F)(l) + overset(-1)(HF)(l)`
