Explain why HF is less viscous than water?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

A molecule of `H_(2)O` can from four H- bonds while that of HF can form only two. Therefore, `H_(2)O` molecules are more highly associated than HF molecules. Consequently, `H_(2)O` has higher viscosity than HF or HF is less viscous than `H_(2)O`
