Why iodoform has appreciable antiseptic ...

Why iodoform has appreciable antiseptic property?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The antiseptic property of iodoform is due to liberation of `I_(2)` when it comes in contact with skin and not due to iodoform itself.
`underset("Iodoform")(CHI_(3)) overset("contact with skin")to underset("Iodine")(I_(2))` (has antiseptic property)
