Arrange water, ethanol and phenol in increasing order of acidity and give reason for your answer.

Due to +I-effect of `CH_(3)CH_(2)` group electron density in the O-H bond of `CH_(3)CH_(2)OH` is higher than that of O-H bond in `H_(2)O`. Therefore, `H_(2)O` is a stronger acid than ethanol. Further, due to greater stabilization of phenoxide ion over phenol, phenol is a stonger acid than water. thus, acidity of these three compounds increases in the order:
