The smallest ketone and its next homologue are reacted with `NH_(2)OH` to form oxime.

A

two different oximes are formed

B

three different oximes are formed

C

two oximes are optically active

D

all oximes are optically active

Text Solution

The correct Answer is:
B

The smallest ketone is acetone. It being a symmetrical ketone forms only one oxime. The next homologue of acetone is butanone. It being unsymmetrical forms to oximes, i.e., cis-and trans butanone oxime. Thus, in all, there are three oximes.
