Arraange the following compounds in increasing order of dipole moment?
`CH_(3)CH_(2)CH_(3).CH_(3)CH_(2)NH_(2),CH_(3)CH_(2)OH`

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Since O is more electronegative than N, therefore, dipole moment of ethyl alcohol is higher than that of ethylamine. Propane, however, has the least dipole moment since it is almost a non-polar molecule. Thus, the dipole moment increases in the order: `CH_(3)CH_(2)CH_(3) lt CH_(3) CH_(2) NH_(2) lt CH_(3)CH_(2)OH`.
