Ribose and 2-deoxyribose can be differentiated by

A

Fehling's solution

B

Tollen's reagent

C

Barfoed's reagent

D

Osazone does not react with

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The correct Answer is:
D

For osazone formation , presence of `OHC-CHOH-` or `CH_(2)OH-CO-` group is required. Since ribose contain `OHC-CHOH-` group but 2-deoxyribose contains neither of the above two groupings, therefore , ribose forms osazone but 2-deoxyribose does not.
