Assertion: `C_(3)` plants respond to increased `CO_(2)` concentration by increaing rate of photosyntheis. ltbr. Reason: The higher productivity of some greenhouse crops such as tomatoes and bell pepper is due to increased `CO_(2)` concentration

The correct Answer is:
B

Carbon dioxide is the major limiting factor for photosynthesis. The `C_(3)` and `C_(4)` plants respond differently to `CO_(2)` concentrations. At low light conditions neither group responds to high `CO_(2)` condtion. At high light intensities, both `C_(3)` and `C_(4)` plants show increase in the rates of photosynthesis. showing increased rates of photosynthesis leading to higher tomatoes and bell peper. They are allowed to grwo in carbon dioxide enriched atmosphere that leads to higher yields.
