Three metal cubes with edges 6cm, 8cm...

Three metal cubes with edges 6cm, 8cm and 10cm respectively are melted together and formed into a single cube. Find the volume, surface area and diagonal of the new cube.

Text Solution

Given, Edge of first cube = 6 cm
Edge of second cube = 8 cm
and edge of third cube = 10 cm
Now, Volume of three cubes =volume of 1 cube+volume of 2 cube+volume of 3 cube
Volume of three cubes =`6^3+8^3+10^3`=`216+512+1000`
Volume of three cubes =`1728 cm^3`
Edges so formed =`root(3)(x)1728`=`12 cm`
`therefore` Surface area of new cube=`6xx12^2`=`864 cm^2`
