A right circular cylinder and a right circular cone have the same radius and the same volume. The ratio of the height of the cylinder to that of the cone is (a)   3:5         (b)  2:5          (c)  3:1       (d)  1:3

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Here, radius and volume of the right circular cone and cylinder are same i.e. `r` and `V`.
Volume of a right circular cylinder (V) = `pir^2h^'`
volume of a right circular cone (V) = `1/3pir^2h^''`
So, `V/V = (pir^2h^')/(1/3pir^2h^'')`
`1/1=3h^'/h^''`
`h^'/h^''=1/3`=`1:3`
Hence, option(d) is correct.
