A hemispherical bowl is made of steel, 0.25 cm thick. The inner radius of the bowl is 5 cm. Find the outer curved surface area of the bowl.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Thickness of hemispherical bowl is `0.25 cm` and inner radius, `r=5 cm`
Outer radius, R=r+thickness
`R=5+0.25` = `5.25cm`
`therefore` Outer C.S.A of hemispherical bowl = `2piR^2`
Outer C.S.A of hemispherical bowl = `2xx22/7xx5.25^2` = `173.25 cm^2`
Hence, Outer C.S.A of hemispherical bowl is `173.25 cm^2`.
