A cylinder whose height is two thirds of its diameter, has the same volume as a sphere of radius 4cm. Calculate the radius of the base of the cylinder.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Height of cylinder=2/3Diameter
Diameter=2radius
`h=2/3xx2r=4/3xxr`
The volume of cylinder= volume of the sphere.
`pir^2h=4/3pir^3`
`pir^2xx4/3=4/3pi(4)^3`
`r^3=4^3`
`r=4cm`
Radius of base of cylinder `=4cm`
