A cylinder of radius 12cm contains water to a depth of 20cm. A spherical iron ball is dropped into the cylinder and thus the level of water is raised by 6.75 cm. Find the radius of the ball. `(u s epi=(22)/7)`

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Radius of cylinder `=12 cm`
Height of cylinder `=6.75 cm`
Let r be the radius of spherical Iron ball
Volume of cylinder = Volume of spherical ball
`22/7xx12xx12xx6.75=4/3xx22/7xxr^3`
`4r^3=2916`
`r^3=729`
`r=9cm`
Volume of cylinder `=pir^2h`
Volume of spherical ball` = 4/3pirh=3`
