A block of mass `5` kg is acted upon two perpendicular force `7` N and `24N`. Find the magnitude and the direction of acceleration of the block.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Resultant force `F=sqrt((7)^(2)+(24)^(2))=25N`
According to Newton's laws of motion, accleration of the block
`a=(F)/(m)=(25)/(5)=5 m//s^(2)`
The acceleration is in the direction of the net force. If `alpha` is the angle made by the net force `F` the direction of force `24N`, then
`tanalpha=(7)/(24)rArralphatan^(-1)((7)/(24))`
