The traffic police recorded the speed (in km/hr) of 10 motorists as 47, 53, 49, 60, 39, 42, 55, 57, 52, 48. Later on an error in recording instrument was found. Find the correct average speed of the motorists if the instrument recorded 5 km/hr less in each case.

Total Speed of `10` motorists `=47+53+49+60+39+42+55+57+52+48`
`=502` km/hr
Average Speed=Total Speed/10
`=502`/`10`
`=50.2` km/hr
Error in recording=`5` km/hr less
Actual Average Speed=`50.2 + 5`
`=55.2` km/hr

The traffic police recorded the speed (in km/h) of 10 motors as 47,53,49,60,39,42,57,55,48,52. Later on an error in the recording instrument was found.Find the correct mean speed of the motorists it if the corrument recorded the speed 6km/h less in each case.

A motorist travels from A to B at a speed of 40 km//hr and returns at a speed of 60 km/hr. His average speed will be:

Aditya covered 48 km distance at 40 km/hr and rest 52 km at 65 km/hr. Find his average speed.

A driver having a definite reaction time is capable of stopping his car over a distance of 30 m on seeing a red traffic signal, when the speed of the car is 72 km/hr andover a distance of 10 m when the speed is 36 km/hr. Find the distance over which he can stop the car if it were running at a speed of 54 km/hr. Assume that his reaction time and the deceleration of the car remains same in all the three cases.

Directions: Direction: Study the following information carefully and answer the question given below. Ten vehicles viz. Cycle, Scooter, Car, Auto, Train, Boat, Truck, Helicopter, Motorcycle and Aeroplane are given with their speeds viz. 9, 17, 30, 35, 45, 55, 70, 224, 367 and 575 but not necessarily in the same order. These vehicles are placed in two rows in such a way that five vehicles are in each row and each vehicle from one row is exactly opposite a vehicle from the other row. All the vehicles are placed from east to west in the increasing order of their speeds. (in km/hr) The car is sitting third to the extreme end and facing North. The vehicle car is facing immediate neighbour of boat whose speed is 17 km/hr. Boat is somewhere left of truck. Motorcycle and Helicopter are immediate neighbours of each other and one of them has even number speed and the other has odd number speed. Only one vehicle comes in between Train and Boat whose (boat and train) speeds are neither 55 nor 35 km/hr. Cycle and boat are immediate neighbours of each other. The one who faces Train sits third to the Scooter who has a speed of multiple of 5. Truck faces car. Aeroplane is sitting at the extreme end and has the highest speed. The ones who have speed of 35 and 45 km/hr are immediate neighbours of each other. Motorcycle has more speed than Train. Truck has speed 55 km/hr. Motorcycle is not at the extreme end. Find the difference between speed of motorcycle and truck?

Solve the following questions. (ii) A train travels 360 km with uniform speed. The speed of the train is increased by 5 km//hr , it takes 48 minutes less to cover the same distance. Find the initial speed of the train.

Two highways intersect as shown in Fig. 4-39. At the instant shown, a police car P is distance d_(p)=800m from the intersection and moving at speed v_(p)=80km//h . Motorist M is distance d_(M)=600m from the intersection and moving at speed v_(M)=60km//h . (a) In unit-vector notation, what is the velocity of the motorist with respect to the police car? (b) For the instant shown in Fig. 4-39, what is the angle between the velocity found in (a) and the line of sight between the two cars? (c ) If the cars maintain their velocities, do the answers to (a) and (b) change as the cars move nearer the intersection?

Two tourist A and B who are at a distance of 40 km from their camp must reach it together in the shortest possible time. They have one bicycle and they decide to use it in turn. ‘A’ started walking at a speed of 5 km hr^(1) and B moved on the bicycle at a speed of 15 km hr^(1) . After moving certain distance B left the bicycle and walked the remaining distance. A, on reaching near the bicycle, picks it up and covers the remaining distance riding it. Both reached the camp together. (a) Find the average speed of each tourist. (b) How long was the bicycle left unused?

A car covers 1/5 of the distance from A to B at the speed at 8 km/hr, 1/10 of the distance at 25 km per hour and the remaining at the speed of 20 km per hour. Find the average speed of the whole journey.
