`La(OH)_(3)` is more basic than `Lu(OH)_(3)` , As the size of the lanthanoid ion decrease from `La^(3+) to Lu^(3+)` the ionization energy increases and therefore metallic character decrease. Hence , the basic strength decreases from `La(OH)_(3)` to `Lu(OH)_(3)`.
