AB(2) and A(2)B(3) are two compounds of...

`AB_(2)` and `A_(2)B_(3)` are two compounds of the elements A and B 0.15 mole of each of these compounds weights 9.3and 15.9g respectively. Find the atomic masses of A and B.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Let atomic masses of A and B be 'a' and 'b' respectively.
`therefore 0.15(a+2b)=9.3g`
0.15(2a+3b)=15.9g
i.e., a+2b=62
On solving equations (i) and (ii)
b=18 and a=26
