Find the equation of a line for which: `p=8,alpha=225^@`

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The equation of line in the normal form is `x\cos \alpha+y\sin \alpha=p`
Here, `\alpha=225^\circ` and `p=8`
Therefore, required equation of line is, `x\cos 225^\circ+y\sin 225^\circ=8`
`\implies x\frac{-\sqrt2}{2}+y\frac{-1}{\sqrt2}=8`
`\implies -x\sqrt2-y=16\sqrt2`
`\implies x\sqrt2+y+16\sqrt2=0`
