Find the values of ` theta ` and p, if the equation `xcostheta+ysintheta=p` is the normal form of the line `sqrt(3)x+y+2=0` .

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

`sqrt(3)x+y+2=0` can be written as,
`frac{sqrt(3)}{2}x+frac{1}{2}y=-1`
Comparing it with `xcostheta+ysintheta=p`, we get
`p=-1`
`costheta=frac{\sqrt3}{2}` and `\sintheta=frac{1}{2}`
`\implies theta=30^@`
