Find the vertex , focus, axis, directrix and latus rectum of the following parabola: `y^2+4x+4y-3=0`

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Given parabola equation is `Y^2+4y+4x−3=0`
`(y+2)^2−4+4x−3=0`
`(y+2)^2=−4(x−7/4)`
Let `Y=y+2,X=x−7/4`
Then we have
`Y^2=4x`
Now on comparing this equation with `Y^2=−4ax`we get
`4a=4⇒a=1`
