A coin is tossed. Find the total number of elementary events and also the total number events associated with the random experiment.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

When a coin is tossed, there are two possible outcomes, head(H) and tail (T). Hence the sample space in this experiment is,
S=H,T.
Thus a total number of elementary events is 2.
There are total 4 subsets of S : {H} , {T}, {T,H} and empty set.
Each of the subsets of the sample space is an event.
