Explain the following terms with the help of examples.(v) Compound event

Compound event an event associated to a random experiment is a compound event if it is obtained by combining two or more elementary events associated to the random experiment.

Two dice are rolled. Let A, B, C be the events of getting a sum of 2, a sum of 3 and a sum of 4 respectively. Then, show that (i) A is a simple event (ii) B and C are compound events (iii) A and B are mutually exclusive

Favourable elementary event an elementary event is said to be favourable to a compound event A if it satisfies the definition of the compound.

When a die is rolled, sample space S = {1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6}. Let some of the events are A = {2, 3}, B = {1, 3,5}, C = {4, 6}, D = {6} and E = {1,5}. (v) Event D is Compound Event.
