Explain the following terms with the help of examples.(v) Compound event

Compound event an event associated to a random experiment is a compound event if it is obtained by combining two or more elementary events associated to the random experiment.

Two dice are rolled. Let A, B, C be the events of getting a sum of 2, a sum of 3 and a sum of 4 respectively. Then, show that (i) A is a simple event (ii) B and C are compound events (iii) A and B are mutually exclusive

Favourable elementary event an elementary event is said to be favourable to a compound event A if it satisfies the definition of the compound.
