Car is accelerating with acceleration =2...

Car is accelerating with acceleration `=20 m//s^(2)`. A box of mass m=10 kg that is placed inside the car, it is put in contact with the vertical wall of car as shown. The friction coefficient between the box and the wall `mu=0.6`

A

The acceleration of the box will be `10 m//s^(2)`

B

The friction force acting on box will be 100 N

C

The contact force between the vertical wall and the box will be 100N

D

None of these

Text Solution

The correct Answer is:
B

The breaking force is insufficient, so the block will not slide

So friction force =100 N
and acceleration will be `20 m//sec^(2)` only
`20 m//sec^(2)`
Net contact force on the block =`sqrt((200)^(2)+(100)^(2))=100sqrt(5) N`

A man of mass 80kg pushes box of mass 20kg horizontaly. The man moves the box with a constant acceleration of 2 m//s^(2) but his foot does not slip on the ground. There is no friction between the box and the ground. There is no friction between the box and the ground. whereas there is sufficient friction between the man's foot and the ground to prevent him from slipping. Assertion:- The force applied by the man on the box is equal and opposite to the force applied by the force applid by the box on the man. Reason:- Friction force applied by the ground on the man is 200N.

A flat car is given an acceleration a_(0)=2m//s^(2) starting from rest. A cable is connected to a crate of weight 50kg as shown whose other end is attached to a fixed support on ground. Neglect friction between the floor and the car wheels and also the mass of the pulley. Calcuollate corresponding tension in th cable if mu=0.30 between the crate and the floor or the car.
