A

MTP is the termination of pregnancy before the foetus becomes viable. It is done to get rid of unwanted preganancies. It is comparatively safe upto first trimester (12 weeks) of pregnancy. After the first trimester, MTP becomes more risky as the foetus becomes intimately associated with the maternal tissues.
