Assertion : In MOET, hormones with progesterone-like activity are given to the cow for inducing super-ovulation.
Reason : After mating the embryos at 4-6 celled stage are recovered and transferred to surrogate mother.

A

If both assertion and reason are true and reason is the correct explanation of assertion.

B

If both assertion and reason are true but reason is not the correct explanation of assertion

C

If assertion is true bur reason is false.

D

The correct Answer is:
D

In multiple embryo transfer technology (MOET), hormones (with FSH-like activity) is given to the cow for inducing follicular maturation and super ovulation. Instead of one egg, they produce 6-8 eggs per cycle. The cow is either mated with a best bull or artificially inseminated. The embryos at 8-32 cell stage are recovered and transferred to surrogate mothers. THe genetic mother is available for another super ovulation. MOET has been done in cattle, sheep, rabbits, buffaloes, mares, etc.

Identify the blanks A and B During MOET procedure done in a cow, the fertilised eggs at ...... ( A.... ) Cells stage are recovered ...... ( B .....) and transferred to surrogate mother.

Select the correct option to fill up the blanks in the following statements. (i) Controlled breeding experoments are carried out using_____. (ii) In MOET technology, the fertilised eggs at______ cells stages, are recovered and transferred to surrogate mothers. (iii) In MOET technology, the cow produces______eggs instead of one egg. (iv) _______ is an industry devoted to the catching, processing or selling of fish.

Given below are four statements (A-D) each with one or two blanks. Select option which correctly fills up the blanks in any two statements. (A) Multiple ovulation ul(i) transfer teachnology is for ul(ii) improvement. (B) In it a cow is administered ul(i) to induce follicular maturation and ul(ii) ovulation. (C) Instead of one egg per cycle, ul(i) eggs are produced through it. (D) The fertilised ul(i) at ul(ii) celled stages are recovered non-surgically and transferred to surrogate mothers.

In MOET, embryo transfer into surrogate mother is done at which of the following stage ?

Fill in the blank 1. Multiple ovulation embryo transfer technology is for____a_______improvement 2. In MOET, cow is administered hormone with ______b____like activity to induce follicular maturation and super ovulation. (3). Instead of one egg per cycle ___c_______eggs are produced through it. (4). The fertilized eggs at ______d_______cell stages are revovered non -surgically and transfered to surrogate mother

In MOET, at how many cells stage fertilised eggs are recovered from the super ovulated female?

Multiple Ovulation Embryo Transfer Technology (MOET) is a programme for herd improvement. In this method, a cow is administered hormones, with _________1_____________ like activity, to induce follicular maturation and super ovulation - instead of one egg, which they normally yield per cycle, they produce _________2_____________ eggs. The animal is either mated with an elite bull or artificially inseminated. The fertilized eggs at _________3___________ cells stages, are recovered, _________4_____________ and transferred to surrogate mothers. The genetic mother is available for another round of super ovulation.

Assertion (A) : The super ovulation in cow is induced by hormonal injection of FSH and after artificial insemination 4-6 embyos are collected . Reason : Each embryo is transplanted into carrier cow (surrogate mother ) , or is deep frozen in liquid nitrogen at -196^(@) C for several years , or is cut into two to obtain identical twins .

Following are the steps in MOET programme for herd improvement in which a cow has been administered hormones with FSH like activity. Arrange steps A to D in their correct sequence in MOET A. Transferred to surrogate mothers B. It produces 6-8 eggs instead of one egg which they normally yield per cycle C. It is artificially inseminated or mated with an elite bull D. Fertilised eggs at 32 celled stage are recovered non-surgically
