The correct Answer is:
B

According to Elton (1939), herbivorous animals are key industry animals as they convert plant matter into animal matter and all other consumers' (higher animals') lives are dependent upon these primary consumers.
Decomposers (also called as transformers) transform organic compounds into simple inorganic compounds. Saprophytic fungi and bacteria belong to this category. They act upon dead bodies of plants and animals and decompose them to their elemental stage. These in turn can be used by producers for their growth and photosynthetic activity. In this way, decomposers indirectly support the producers and play a pivotal role in ecosystem.

Given is a statement followed by two assumptions numbered I and II. Consider the statement and the following assumptions is/are implicit in the statement . Statement : All the species of plants and animals are part of biodeversity and ecosystems and play major role in the overall health of the environment. Assumptions : I. Preserve or create a backyard habitat .Save as many native plants as you can when building or landscaping . II One of the major goals of sustainability is to preserve biodiversity .All life on Earth is connected through the flow of energy (planetary food web), and each time a species becomes endangered or lost to extinction ,one more part of that energy flow is lost .

Ecological Indicators The presence of dragonflies can reveal changes in the water ecosystems more quickly than studying other animals or plants. In fact, from the nymph to the adult stage, the dragonfly has a significant, positive ecological impact. Dragonfly eggs are laid and hatched in or near water, so their lives impact both water and land ecosystems. Once hatched, dragonfly nymphs can breathe underwater which enables them to eat mosquito larvae, other aquatic insects and worms, and even small aquatic vertebrates like tadpoles and small fish and in the air. Adult dragonflies capture and eat adult mosquitoes. Community wide mosquito control programs that spray insecticides to kill adult mosquitoes also kill dragonflies. Assertion: Releasing dragonflies in areas where there is an outbreak of malarial diseases can be an environment friendly method of control. Reason: Dragon flies are dominant species and will not allow mosquitoes to reproduce
