Find f^(-1) if it exists: f: A->B where ...

Find `f^(-1)` if it exists: `f: A->B` where `A={0,\ -1,\ -3,\ 2};` `B=` `{-9,\ -3,\ 0,\ 6}` and `f(x)=3x` .

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

(i) `A={0,−1,−3,2}; B={−9,−3,0,6} `

`f:A rightarrow B`

`Rightarrow f(x)=3x ` [ Given ]

Then ,` f={(0,0),(−1,−3),(−3,−9),(2,6)}`

Here , distinct elements of A have distinct images of B

So, f is one-one.
