Prove that : cot^(-1)7+cot^(-1)8+cot^(-1...

Prove that : `cot^(-1)7+cot^(-1)8+cot^(-1)18=cot^(-1)3`

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

LHS : `= cot^(-1)(7)+cot^(-1)(8)+cot^(-1)(18)`

`=tan^(-1) (1/7)+tan^(−1)(1/8)+tan^(−1)(1/18)`

`(cot^(-1) (x)=tan^(-1) (1/x))`

`=tan^(-1) (((1/7)+(1/8))/(1-(1/(7xx8))))tan−1(1/18)`

`tan^(-1) A+tan^(-1) B=tan^(-1) (1−ABA+B))`

`=tan^(-1) (113)+tan^(-1) (181)`

`=tan^(-1) (54+11 /198−3 )⋅tan^(-1) (195-:65)`

`=tan^(-1) (31)`
