Show that the following system of equations is inconsistent: `2x+y=3,\ \ \ 4x+2y=5`

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

`2x+ y=3`
`4 x+2 y=5`

`D=|[2 , 1],[ 4 , 2]|=4-4=0 `

`D_{1}=|[3 , 1],[ 5 , 2]|=6-5=1 `

`D_{2}=|[2 , 3],[ 4 , 5]|=10-12=-2`

Here, `D=0.`
`D_1` and `D_2` are nonzero.

Therefore the given system is inconsistent.
