If the matrix `[5x2-10 1]` is singular, find the value of `x` .

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Given, `[[5x,2],[-10, 1]]`
`|A|=abs([5x,2],[-10, 1])`
= `5x xx 1 - 2 xx -10 `(Expanding along `R_1)`
`|A| = 5x + 20`
Hence `5x + 20 = 0 or x = -4`
