Two sides of a triangle have lengths ...

Two sides of a triangle have lengths `' a '` and `' b '` and the angle between them is `theta` . What value of `theta` will maximize the area of the triangle? Find the maximum area of the triangle also.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Area of triangle `=A=1/2 ab sintheta`
And `sintheta` is maximum when `theta=pi/2`
`therefore A=1/2 ab sin (pi/2)`
`implies A=1/2ab`
