Two major factors known to cause cancer are oncogenes and tumour suppressor genes that sustain some gentic damage and thus, produces a protein capable of cellular transformation. Tumour suppressor gene normally keeps mitosis in check and prevents cancer from occuring. This gene is inactivated or somehow removed to eliminate control of cell cycle and initiate cancer.
