Conservation of biodiversity can be broadly classified into two : In situ (on-site) an ex situ (off site). In situ is the preferred method to maintain species of wild animals in their habitats. This approach helps in conservation of total ecosystem. Ex situ approaches include consevation of those organisms, whose species may become extinct or decline habitat. This includes seed banks, cryopreservation, tissue culture, in vitro fertilisation, etc.
