Determine the order and degree of the ...

Determine the order and degree of the following differential equation. State also whether they are linear or non-linear: `root(3)((d^2y)/(dx^2))=sqrt((dy)/(dx))`

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

We have given
`root(3)((d^2y)/(dx^2))=sqrt((dy)/(dx))`
We can rewrite it as
`root(3)((d^2y)/(dx^2))=((dy)/(dx))^{1/2}`
Taking cube on both side
`((d^2y)/(dx^2))=((dy)/(dx))^{3/2}`
`((d^2y)/(dx^2))-((dy)/(dx))^{3/2}=0`
Here the highest order of derivative is two.
