If the vectors ` vec a=2 hat i-3 hat j\ a n d\ vec b=-6 hat i+m hat j` are collinear, find the value of `m`

The value of `m` is `9`.

We are given that

`vec a=2 hat i-3 hat j \ and \ vec b=-6 hat i+m hat j` are collinear

`therefore vec b= lambda vec a` for some scaler ` lambda`

`rArr -6 hat i+m hat j= lambda(2 hat i-3 hat j)`

`rArr -6 hat i+m hat j=2 lambda hat i-3 lambda hat j`

Equating the coefficients of `hat i` and `hat j`, we get,

`rArr -6=2 lambda` and `m=-3 lambda`

`rArr lambda=-6/2=-3`
