Using vector method, prove that the following points are collinear:
A(2,-1,3) B(4,3,1) C(3,1,2)

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

We are given the points `A(2,-1,3) , quad B(4,3,1), quad C(3,1,2)`

Let the position vectors be :

Position vector of ` A=2 hat i- hat j+3 hat k`

Position vector of ` B=4 hat i+3 hat j+ hat k`

Position vector of `C=3 hat i+1 hat j +2 hat k`

Now we have to show that these points are collinear it is possible only if
`|vec(AB)|+|vec(BC)|=|vec(AC)|`

Therefore,
