Let `A` and `B` be two events such tat `P(A)=3/8,\ P(B)=5/8, P(AuuB)=3/4` and Then `P(A//B)=`

A

a) `2/5`

B

b) `3/8`

C

c) `3/(20)`

D

d) `6/(25)`

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The correct Answer is:
a) `2/5`

Given, `P(A)=3/8,\ P(B)=5/8, P(AuuB)=3/4`

`P(AuuB)=P(A)+P(B)-P(AnnB)`

`3/4=3/8+5/8-P(AnnB)`

`P(AnnB)=1-3/4=1/4`

`P(A//B)=(P(AnnB))/(P(B))`

`=(1/4)/(5/8)`

`=2/5`

Hence, correct option is a)
