The element (chlorine) correspoding to the electronic cofiguration (iii) will have the the most negative electron gain enthalpy. This is due to the reason that it contains one electrons less that the stable noble gas configuration i.e., [Ne] `3p^(2) 3p^(6)` and hence has a strong tendency to accept one electron to acquire the stable noble gas configuration
