When head of sperm binds to zona pellucida of ovum the acrosome release its contents by exocytosis. The content inside acrosome includes various hydrolytic enzymes like hyaluronidase, coprone penetrating enzymes, etc. This is called acrosmal reaction. It helps the sperm to reach the plasma membrane of ovum, by dissolving corona radiata and zona pellucida.
