In deep water bodies such as lakes and oceans, there occurs light zonation . Light zones are categorised as littoral zone, limnetic zone, profundal zone and benthic zone. Due to this, not all colour components of the visible spectrum are avaible to marine plants. Also, some components, like red, have very poor penetration. Weathering or breaking of rocks into fine powder can occur due to atmospheric changes, mechanical forces (mechanical weathering), chemical changes (chemical weathering) and biological breakdown (biological weathering). It affects the quality of soil.
