Water leaks out from an open tank through a hole of area 2mm^2 in the bottom. Suppose water is filled up to a height of 80 cm and the area of cross section of the tankis 0.4 m^2 . The pressure at the open surface and the hole are equal to the atmospheric pressure. Neglect the small velocity of the water near the open surface in the tank. a. Find the volume of water leaked out during a time interval dt after the height remained is h. Thus find the decrease in height dh in term of h and dt. d. From the result of part c. find the time required for half of the water to leak out.

A thin - walled cylinder of mass (m), height (h) and cross- sectional area (A) is filled with a gas and floats on the surface of water. As a result of leakage from the lower part of the cylinder, the depth of its submergence has increased by Delta h . Find the initial pressure p_(1) of the gas in the cylinder if the atmospheric pressure is p_(0) and the temperature remains constant.

(i) In the arrangement shown in the figure, the tank has a large cross section and the pipes have much smaller cross section. The opening at A is unplugged and the water jet hits the ground surface at a horizontal distance x. (a) Find the level of water (h) in the tube B as water flows out of A. (b) Find x. (i) A flat horizontal surface has a small hole at its centre . A circular glass plate of radius R is placed symmetrically above the hole with a small gap h remainng between the plate and the surface A liquid enters the gap symmetrically from all sides and after travelling radially through the gap finally exits from the hole. The volume flow rate of the liquid coming out from the hole is Q (in m^(3)s^(-1) ). (a) If the flow speed just inside the circumference of the circular plate is V_(0) and the speed (V_(x)) of flow inside the gap at distance x(see figure) from the centre of the hole. (b) Write V_(x) in terms of Q, h and x.
