A compound pendulum consists of a rigid light rod having two spherical bobs of masses m_(1) and m_(2) at distance l_(1) and l_(2) from the centre of suspension. Find the time period of oscillations of the pendulum

Statement 1: A pendulum made of an insulated rigid massless rod of length l is attached to a small sphere of mass m and charge q. The pendulum is undergoinng oscillations of small amplitude having time period T. Now a uniform horizontal magnetic field vec B out of plane of page is switched on. As a result of this change, the time period of oscillations does not change. Statement 2: A force acting along the string on the bob of a simple pendulum (such that tension in string is never zero) does not produce any restoring torque on the bob about the hinge.

Two light strings of length 4cm and 3 cm are tied to a bob of weight 500 gm .The free ends of the strings are tied to pegs in the same horizontal line and separated by 5 cm .The ratio of tension in the longer string to that in the shortest string is

Consider a simple pendulum having a bob attached to a string that oscillates under the action of a force of gracity. Suppose that the period of oscillation of the simple pendulum depends on its length (I), mass of the bob (m) and acc. Due to gravity (g). Derive the expression for its time period using method of dimensions.

A bob of mass 2 kg hangs from a string of length 5 m . It swings from its rest position to one of the sides so that the string makes an angle of 60^(@) with the vertical Calculate the gain in potential energy of the bob .

A simple pendulum of length L having a bob of mass m is deflected from its rest position by an angle theta and released figure. The string hits a peg which is fixed at distance x below the point of suspension and the bob starts going in a circle centred at the peg. a. Assuming that initially the bob has a height less thasn the peg, show that the maximum height reached by the bob equals its initialheight. b. If the pendulum is released with theta=90^0 and m=L/2 find the maximum height reached by the bob above its lowest positon before the string becomes slack. c. Find the minimum value of x/L for which the bob goes in a complete circle about the pet when the pendulum is released from theta=90^0 .
