What are Integers?

Students are introduced to the natural numbers, or whole numbers, initially for solving elementary mathematical calculations. Working with numbers starting from zero and moving towards the left side of the number line or zero, One might think what lies on the left of the number line?

So far, students could say like which number is smaller than 2 and their answer would 0 or 1. But if they were asked what number is smaller than zero. Thus, it leads to the need for a new set of numbers called negative numbers that fall on the right side of the zero ‘0’.

Integers are comprised of negative numbers and whole numbers.
