By what number should `(-8)^-1` be multiplied so that the product may be equal to `10^-1` ?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Let the number be `x` that should be multiplied with `(-8)^-1` so that the product will be equal to `10^-1`
`=> x xx (-8)^-1= 10^-1`
`=> x xx (-1)/8=1/10`
`=> x =1/10 xx(-8)/1`
`=>x=(-4)/5`
Therefore,`(-4)/5` is the number that should be multiplied with `(-8)^-1` so that the product will be equal to `10^-1`.
