determine the degree
(1)`3x^4-2x^3y^3+7xy^3`
(ii) `(-3x^2y^2)/4`

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

To find the degree we will add the degree of the variables.
(i) Degree of `3x^4` is `4`, degree of `-2x^3y^3` is `3+3=6`, degree of `7xy^3` is `1+3=4`
As, we can see the highest value of degree is `6`.
`:.` The degree of `3x^4-2x^3y^3+7xy^3` will be `6`.

(ii) The degree of `(-3x^2y^2)/4` is `2+2=4`.
As, we can see the highest value of degree is `4`.
`:.` The degree of `(-3x^2y^2)/4` will be `4`.
