Divide: (i)`x+2x^2+3x^4-x^5\ ` by `2x`
(ii)`y^4-3y^3+1/2y^2\ ` by `3y`

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

(i) `x+2x^2+3x^4-x^5\ `by `2x`
`=(x+2x^2+3x^4-x^5)/(2x)`
`=x/(2x)+(2x^2)/(2x)+(3x^4)/(2x)-x^5/(2x)`
`=1/2+x+3/2x^3-1/2x^4`

(ii) `y^4-3y^3+1/2y^2` by `(3y)`
`=(y^4-3y^2+1/2y^2)/(3y)`
`=y^4/(3y)-(3y^2)/(3y)+(1/2y^2)/(3y)`
`=1/3y^3-y+1/6y`
