Let the lady have Rs.`x`
Amount spend on hankies and beggar`=x/2+1`
amount left`=x-(x/2+1)=x-x/2-1=x/2-1`
Amount spent on lunch`=1/2(x/2-1)+2`
Remaining amount after lunch `=x/2−1−[1/2(x/2−1)+2]=x/4−5/2`
Amount spent on books and bus fair`=1/2(x/4−5/2)+3`
Final amount left `=x/4-5/2-[1/2(x/4-5/2)+3]`
`1=x/4-5/2-x/8-5/4-3`
`1=x/4-x/8-5/2+5/4-3`
`1=x/8-5/4-3`
`1=x/8-17/4`
`1=(x-34)/8`
`8=x-34`
`x=34+8`
`x=42`
`therefore` Lady have Rs. `42`
